Acne scars are changes in skin texture left after deep or inflamed acne. Most people get depressed or sunken scars that look rough and uneven. A flat spot of colour is usually a dark mark, not a scar, and tends to fade with time.
What to expect honestly. The American Academy of Dermatology says scars can fade but rarely go away completely on their own, and that a board-certified dermatologist can help diminish them. Treatment can make scars less noticeable, but it does not remove them, and results vary from person to person.
NIBM Road is in south-east Pune, close to The Skin Firm, which is at NIBM Post Office Road, Mohammed Wadi, South Pune.
Scar treatments are usually given as a series spaced weeks apart, so it helps to choose a clinic you can reach on schedule. We explain the number of visits and the gap before you start.

Dr. Karishma Singh, Founder and Skin & Aesthetic Specialist (BHMS, FCHD), leads treatment planning and procedures. Dr. Monica C., Consultant Dermatologist (MD Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy; NMC-registered), assesses medical causes and prescribes medicines where they are needed.
The procedures here are medical treatments. We tell you at the consultation which doctor assesses you and who performs or prescribes them, and we advise against treatment if your skin or health makes it unsuitable.
Consultation & Scar Assessment
We examine the type, depth and colour of your scars and marks, your skin tone, and whether acne is still active. Active acne is treated first.
Personalised Plan
We explain the options, the likely number of sessions, the gap between them, the risks and the written fee.
Treatment
Depending on the plan, treatment may be microneedling, peels, laser, PRP or a combination, with numbing cream where suitable.
Aftercare & Review
You get written aftercare and sun-protection advice. We review the skin and change the plan if it is not responding.
Microneedling. Fine needles make tiny channels in the skin to prompt renewal. The AAD describes microneedling as a popular option for fading scars. It can cause redness and pinpoint bleeding.
Chemical Peels. Used for surface texture and dark marks, with a risk of irritation and pigment change.
Laser Treatment. Fractional or other lasers may be used for selected scars. Risks include redness, swelling and pigment change.
PRP. Platelet-rich plasma from your own blood, often with microneedling. Evidence for scars is limited and we explain this first.
Combination Plans. Different scar types respond to different tools, so plans are often combined and adjusted.
Scars usually become less noticeable gradually over several sessions. Shallow scars and dark marks often respond better than deep ice-pick scars, and some depth can remain.
Results vary from person to person and cannot be promised. Skin tone, scar depth and how long you have had the scars all affect the outcome.
The cost depends on the type and number of scars, the area, the method chosen, the number of sessions and any follow-up.
We don't work from a fixed price list. After your consultation you receive the recommended plan and a written fee, so you can decide at your own pace.
Redness and mild swelling are common for a day or two, and skin can feel tight or dry.
Pinpoint scabs or flaking can occur and settle.
Most people return to routine activities, with sun protection for the treated skin.
Keep the skin moisturised with an unscented moisturiser.
Avoid direct sun and use SPF 30 or higher.
Avoid scrubs, hot baths and saunas for 24 to 48 hours.
Do not pick at scabs or flaking skin.
Pause retinoids and strong actives for the days we advise.
Contact us if there is pus, spreading redness, severe pain or fever.
Treatments can cause redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, infection, pigment change and scarring. Darker skin carries a higher risk of pigment change after laser and peels. Picking, popping and squeezing breakouts raises the risk of scars, per the AAD.
Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tend to form keloid scars, have active acne or a skin infection in the area, take blood thinners or isotretinoin, or have a bleeding disorder.
